Summary:
E-waste includes all electronics that are disposed of and is the product of a constant inflow of new technology to a modern world. This waste is becoming more and more common in the world due to old technology constantly being replaced by the new technology that is introduced to society. This waste likely sent to be dismantled overseas in developing countries that do not have the facilities to recycle them safely. These countries disassemble the e-waste in a manner that releases dangerous chemicals to the environment and the people that are disassembling the waste.
My Opinion:
As e-waste becomes more prevalent in today's society, developed countries should begin taking measures to handle their own waste. This will allow developed countries to prevent the waste from further polluting the world we live in. Although it would be more expensive to recycle the waste in the developed countries it will help to eliminate the dangerous waste that is produced and thus eliminating the cost to clean up the waste. In addition to eliminating the waste, recycling of e-waste can provide companies with valuable metals that can be recycled into other products. E-waste should not be pushed upon developing countries simply because they did not produce the waste. Developing countries can not be expected to become more modern if they have to deal with both their problems and ours.
